Since I had first learned the meaning of “e-commerce” and all that it entails, I have been nothing short of fascinated. This is why I have chosen the article “E-commerce Technology Trends That Will Take Center Stage In 2019,” from Entrepreneur Magazine. The basis of the article is breaking down how influential e-commerce has become in these very technologically advanced times and how it will affect commerce in the near future. A very impressive statistic I gathered from my article was that worldwide e-commerce trade is projected to reach 3.3 billion dollars this year. But beyond the numbers and the logistics, the main thing that I took away from this article is that, simply put, e-commerce is the future. Personally, I think that e-commerce will change the way that corporate shareholders and household investors alike will conduct business. The article cites a few practical applications of wide spread usage of e-commerce such as suggesting a meeting point between social media platforms and e-commerce platforms. I think that this is a fantastic idea and would offer extreme accessibility and ease in transactions. If I had to convince someone that this is a smart move to improve future commerce, I would tell them to recall previous technology advances within the markets (such as the Bloomberg terminal machines for example) and how influential they have been to not only our nation’s economy, but others across the globe. The evolution and advancement of e-commerce is no different. We live in a world shaped by technology, technology that is constantly changing in becoming faster more efficient, and more accessible. If you walk down any street in New York City, you would be hard-pressed to find someone using any other cellular device than some version of an iPhone or other brand of smart phone. As of late, we have become ever-more dependent on technology. It keeps us organized, helps us stay more connected, and provides various functions that range from checking the weather at the click of an app to heart rate monitors that can save lives. This article has really put into perspective just how useful the evolution of e-commerce can be to us in the coming years. To cite another example of its many useful applications, the article talks briefly about blockchains, which are designed as an effective way to store transactional data. This form of e-commerce technology can serve as alternative, fast, and efficient way to insure the security of transactions, as well as serve as a platform for improved shipment tracking. All in all, what I’ve ultimately learned from the article is to embrace the changes in trade and business that e-commerce will bring this year. I believe it will dramatically improve effectiveness in transactions and connectivity between parties. This was a very interesting article and I’m glad a had to chance to analyze it and stake my claim as to why I support its content.
